After Care

Atlantic Blankets after care

Wool

Our natural wool blankets are best looked after with these simple steps -

  1. Shake - give your blanket a good shake outside to remove loose fibres, dirt and dust
  2. Air - airing your blanket outside can help to keep it smelling fresh

But, if your wool blanket becomes dirty we recommend the following -

  1. Gently hand wash, or machine wash at 30ºC on a gentle wool cycle, both using a wool friendly detergent
  2. Rinse and spin on the lowest setting
  3. Press excess water out
  4. Do not tumble dry. Dry flat, away from direct sunlight

Cotton

Our recycled cotton blankets can be machine washed, follow our steps below -

  1. Gently hand wash, or machine wash at 30ºC
  2. Line dry, away from direct sunlight
  3. Use a tumble dryer to help fluff the fabric back up

Sheepskin

Our British sheepskin rugs are best looked after with 3 simple steps -

  1. Beat and shake - give the rug a good shake outside to remove dust and dirt, and beat if required
  2. Brush - use a dog brush to help fluff up the rug
  3. Vacuum - finally vacuum your rug to remove all remaining dust and dirt particles

If you find that your rug needs an extra clean you can machine or hand wash when necessary, but this can remove natural oils making the rug feel slightly less soft. Follow the steps below -

  1. Pre soak in cold water, using a mild wool detergent
  2. Gently hand wash, or machine wash at 30ºC on a gentle wool cycle, both using a wool friendly detergent
  3. Rinse and spin on the lowest setting
  4. Comb wool while damp
  5. Hang dry over two lines away from direct sunlight
  6. When nearly dry, stretch by hand back to shape
