With the magic of last weeks Royal Wedding our thoughts have turned to weddings and how blankets can make a wonderful extra touch for the special day.

Especially so if planning an outside wedding, in a marquee, on a beach or on top of the cliffs. Many of our favourite wedding locations are outdoors, such as the magical Cornish Tipi Weddings, the charmingly rustic Gwel an Mor, and the utterly stunning, beautifully laidback Lusty Glaze Beach.

Outdoor weddings can be great in any season, with roaring fires and candles in winter, and beach barbeques or picnics in summer.

But if you’re planning an outdoor wedding you’re no doubt thinking about how to keep guests comfortable and warm.

So we’ve put together our top 6 ways to use blankets as a creative part of your wedding, as well as some wedding gift ideas –

Baskets of Blankets

Ensure guests are warm and cosy with a basket full of blankets at the ready. Choose a blanket that fits with your theme and decorate a sign with something along the lines of “Cosy Up”, "Keep Warm", or even "To Have and To Hold Incase You Get Cold". Wicker or seagrass baskets, wooden crates, boats, bikes can all make for a wonderful blanket display.

Blankets on Chairs

If your ceremony is outdoors you can drape blankets on the back of the chairs, or rolled on the seats, so that guests can cover their knees or wrap around shoulders to stay warm, during and after the ceremony.

Picnic Blankets

In the summer months create a picnic scene at an outdoor reception, by laying wool blankets on the floor. Keep young guests occupied with a mini picnic scene, lay blankets with mini picnic sets and let the role play begin.

Draped Blankets

Drape blankets over hay bales to create a comfortable seating area, or over any kind of seating to create a more scrumptious space.

Bridesmaid Gifts

Use blankets as a way to keep bridesmaids warm whilst outside, they can be a great option for use whilst waiting around for photos to be taken. And can also make for an extra special thank you gift as well. Give them in the morning with a special thank you note, and let them know that they can be used throughout the day. A truly lovely memory for them to take home.

Wedding Gifts

Blankets make a wonderful wedding gift, and are something that can be treasured for years to come. See our latest Wedding Blanket Gift Set which is made up of a wool picnic blanket with leather straps, and comes wrapped in a luxury gift box, with rose petals and a congratulations gift card.
