Design Spotlight: The Story Behind the Marram Grass Blanket
Inspired by Penhale Dunes, woven with purpose.
Some designs are beautiful. Others feel meaningful. The Marram Grass Blanket is both.
It’s one of our most personal creations yet - born from our connection to the Cornish coastline, our role as Reserve Guardians of Penhale Dunes, and our love for nature’s quieter, often overlooked moments.
The Inspiration: Penhale Dunes
If you’ve ever walked the coast path above Perranporth, you’ll know the stretch we’re talking about. Penhale Dunes is one of the largest sand dune systems in Cornwall - home to rare wildflowers, skylarks, butterflies, and marram grass gently swaying in the breeze.
It’s a wild, peaceful place that’s incredibly important for biodiversity - and deeply special to us as a team.
In 2023, we became Reserve Guardians of Penhale Dunes, in partnership with Cornwall Wildlife Trust. It’s a small but important role, supporting the protection and restoration of this rare habitat.
The Marram Grass Blanket was our way of marking that connection, and sharing a little piece of it with you.
The Design: Marram Grass in Thread
We wanted this blanket to feel like a breath of calm - nothing bold or overcomplicated, just a quiet reflection of the landscape we love.
The design takes its lead from marram grass, the hardy, wind-swept plant that helps shape and anchor the dunes. Its movement in the breeze, its resilience, and its place in the ecosystem all inspired us.
The colours are drawn from the dunes underfoot - soft golds, cloud whites, and gentle earthy tones.
Simple and spacious, the design mirrors the natural rhythm of the coast - steady, calm, and quietly beautiful.
What It Represents
For us, the Marram Grass Blanket is more than just a new product. It’s a reminder to protect what matters, to look after the places we love, and to stay rooted in nature - even when life feels busy.
